The Capel St Mary Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) is being prepared by Capel St Mary Parish Council and the local community. When complete, it will be used to help guide and shape future development in the plan's area.

Capel St Mary Parish Council have been carrying out a review of what additional resources etc. might be needed to see both their and their communities NDP aspirations delivered. Babergh District Council will continue to support them as and when required to do so.

Reg 14 Pre-submission Consultation (7 May - 24 Jun 2023)

Consultation on a pre-submission draft version of this NDP was carried out by Capel St Mary Parish Council between 7 May and 24 June 2023. Please visit the parish council website for more information about this.

SEA/HRA Screening and Determination (Sept 2022)

Initial screening of a 2021 version of the Capel St Mary NDP took place late that year. The purpose of that exercise was to determine whether a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and/or a Habitats Assessment (HRA) were required. The draft NDP went through further screening in Summer 2022, where it was decided that an SEA and an HRA were not needed.

Reg 14 Pre-submission Consultation (1 March - 18 Apr 2020)

Pre-submission consultation on a 2020 draft version of the Capel St Mary NDP closed in April 2020. 

Reg 05 - Area Designation (20 Apr 2018)

On 17 April 2018, Capel St Mary Parish Council submitted an application to designate their parish as a NDP area. Under the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), Babergh District Council designated the NDP area on 20 April 2018. A notice to this effect, a copy of the application and a map identifying the NDP area are published below:
