Support for households reliant on heating oil 

Following the rise in fuel costs, we contacted households that rely on oil for heating and hot water about Crisis and Resilience Fund Oil Payments and other schemes.

A residents' story: 

After receiving a letter and contacting Citizens Advice to check her eligibility and for support with applications, the resident received a Crisis and Resilience Fund heating oil payment and a Crisis Payment. She was also supported to apply for Pension Credit, as well as additional Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction, helping to improve her overall financial situation. 

The resident explained the support had made a positive difference to her wellbeing and said: 

“Overall, it was very positive to receive the heating oil letter because otherwise I wouldn’t have known about the help that was available. 

Knowing that there is help available is quite a comfort. I probably wouldn’t have applied otherwise, and it’s been a huge help.”
