Private hire operator's licences
If you accept bookings on behalf of private hire vehicles, you will need a private hire operator's licence. This licence lasts for five years.
If you are also a licensed driver, all relevant checks will have already been performed.
Non-licensed drivers, when applying, will need to provide:
- a basic disclosure
- a Level 2 certificate in Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver. This training is carried out at your own expense, and you must present us with your pass certificate
In addition to these checks, all applicants will need to provide:
- details of all telephone numbers intended for the use of bookings, and the address to which each number relates. Phone bills are accepted proof of this
- your company policies:
- Carriage of passengers accompanied by guide or hearing dogs policy
- Carriage of passengers with disabilities policy
- Safeguarding of children and vulnerable persons policy
- Public liability insurance certificate for any offices which the public have access to
- a certificate from OFCOM (where applicable)
- a copy of the company registration certificate (where applicable)
