Homes and Housing Strategy
We - both Babergh and Mid Suffolk Councils - share a vision that residents should have somewhere affordable to live and call home. This provides a sense of belonging, contributes to positive health and wellbeing, and strengthens community spirit.
In March 2019, we adopted our Homes and Housing Strategy.
This strategy is refreshed annually, so that it stays up-to-date. The Homes and Housing Strategy Delivery Plan has been replaced with our Master Housing Action Plan.
This action plan combines the delivery plans from the Tenant Engagement Strategy and the Homes and Housing Strategy. It contains actions on the new priorities that have emerged since the original strategy and delivery plan was written in 2019.
As part of this year’s review, our members decided to refocus the strategic priorities - so that they are more concise, and can be easily aligned with our other housing strategies. Our priorities have been divided into two themes, which represent our housing functions:
Theme One: Shaping the housing market within the districts
-
-
Priority 1.1: Providing homes that are as affordable as possible through an effectively functioning housing market
Priority 1.2: Making best use of private sector land and private accommodation across the districts
-
Theme 2: Being an effective Social Landlord
-
-
Priority 2.1: Investing in our current homes
Priority 2.2: Tackling and adapting to climate change
Priority 2.3: Delivering new council housing
Priority 2.4: Improving the services that we provide to our tenants
Priority 2.5: Improving the neighbourhoods that we manage
Priority 2.6: Involving tenants in the running of the service
Priority 2.7: Implementing digital transformation
Priority 2.8: Ensuring sustainable financial management of our council housing services
