Hintlesham & Chattisham Neighbourhood Plan
The Hintlesham & Chattisham Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) is being prepared by the Parish Council and local community. It builds on the work already undertaken on their former People & Place Plan project.
When complete, the NDP will be used to help guide and shape future development across the designated plan area.

Reg 16 Submission Consultation (23 Mar to 15 May 2026)
The Hintlesham & Chattisham NDP has been submitted to Babergh District Council and is now being made available for public consultation.
In accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended), written comments are being invited on this draft Plan and accompanying documents. The consultation period runs from Monday 23 March until 4:00pm on Friday 15 May 2026.

- A Basic Conditions Statement
- A View Assessment (Jan 2026)
- A Local Green Space Assessment (Aug 2025)
- Copies of the SEA and HRA Screening Reports (LUC, Sept 2025), and our Determination Notice (Oct 2025), which are published further below.
An assessment on how this NDP meets the basic condition tests will form part of the examination. Our initial checks suggest that the relevant procedural requirements have been met. See our Reg 15 Checklist.

All comments must be made in writing and must be received by the consultation deadline. Your comments cannot be treated as confidential and, with the exception of personal contact details, will be published on this webpage at the end of the consultation period. As part of your response, you can also state if you wish to be notified when we publish the examination report and if/when this NDP is adopted by Babergh District Council.

SEA/HRA Screening and Determination (Oct 2025)
The pre-submission draft NDP was screened to determine whether a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and or a Habitats Assessment (HRA) were required. Both were 'screened out'. The relevant documents are published below:
