Pre-application advice timescales
We aim to respond to pre-application enquiries within a set timescale.
Please note that our priority is making decisions about submitted planning applications within the government's set target timescales.
Written responses
Size of development | Target response time |
---|---|
Householder | Within 14 days. If we need to consult with our Heritage team, this extends to 21 days |
1-9 dwellings | Within 21 days |
10-49 dwellings | Within 28 days |
50-200 dwellings | Within 28 days |
Meetings and onsite visits
For meetings and site visits, we aim to make initial contact within three days of the validation date. This is so we can organise a date that is convenient for you.
The date we arrange should be within 24 days of the validation date.
We will do everything we can to offer a meeting date within this timescale, and we will offer as many alternative dates as possible. However, please note that there may be occasions where we cannot find a mutually convenient date for a meeting within this set timescale.
Following our meeting or site visit, we will provide you with a written response:
Size of development | Target written response time (following a meeting) |
---|---|
Householder | Within 14 days |
1-9 dwellings | Within 14 days |
10-49 dwellings | Within 14 days |
50-200 dwellings | Within 21 days |
Please note that there will be occasions where our timescales detailed above cannot be met. This may occur when we have to seek responses from consultees, or during times of very heavy workload.
In these circumstances, we will keep you advised of progress. We will let you know the reason(s) for any delays and we will work to ensure that you receive a written response as soon as possible.
To ensure you receive a timely response, it is essential that you submit accurate and complete information. This is so that Council officers can fully understand your proposal.
